Participant's Responsibilities



* Commitment to serve for 3 years in a community health center or similar entity in a medically underserved community (MUC) in California for those who are accepted into Programs A and B. For those who participate in Program C only, the commitment to serve in a MUC is a period of 18 months.

* Application for any student loans.

* Housing, transportation and meals.

* 100 percent attendance to all Program activities unless otherwise excused.

Program A :
Time commitment of at least 50 hours per week.
Obtain approved translations of medical school transcripts and diploma as required by the Medical Board of California. Please refer to the section entitled "Translation of foreign academic credentials". (page 23 of the PTAL application [pdf])

Program B :
Time commitment of at least 50 hours per week.
Upon successful completion and receipt of scores for the USMLE Step-1 and USMLE Step-2 CK, submit required documents to the Medical Board of California. Please note review of your application to the Medical Board of California may take 90 to 120 days or longer depending on whether or not the application is complete.

Program C :
Time commitment - 6 days a week with some overnight call.
